Frequently Asked Questions
Many folks have questions before they feel ready to begin therapy. We hope some of these commonly asked questions will be supportive in your journey of exploring therapy.
You might be wondering...
How much does therapy cost?
Its understandable to be curious about how therapy fits into your budget. The fee for the service you are seeking will be discussed in your initial consultation. The total cost of therapy will depend on how frequently and for how long you receive sessions.
When can I get started?
Depending on scheduling alignment, we can begin as early as same-day in most cases. This availability is subject to change and will be discussed in initial consultation.
How does virtual therapy work?
Virtual therapy can happen from wherever you desire, as long as you have the Zoom app. Some clients prefer to take sessions in the comfort of their bedroom. Others choose to take a neighborhood walk and talk.
What is your process?
Therapy begins with an initial consultation call which can happen over the phone or on Zoom, whichever you prefer. Following this conversation, if you agree to begin therapy, the fee will be discussed for your particular services (individual, relational, sex therapy, etc.) and a time will be set for your first appointment. If there are multiple members in therapy, each individual will meet separately for an individual session before beginning relational sessions.
How long does therapy last?
This is one of the most commonly asked questions about therapy. While some therapeutic approaches have a strictly defined timeline, the work that is offered in these services is more challenging to predict. Your therapist will make a best-guess at your timeline based on your desired frequency and established goals.
Do you take my insurance?
We do not accept insurance at this time. We will provide a monthly statement of services so that you may independently submit to your insurance for reimbursement. We encourage you to check with your insurance plan to see if you are eligible for reimbursement for out of network mental health services.
How long are sessions?
The typical session length is 50 minutes. If you prefer more intensive sessions, please discuss your preference with your therapist to arrange for a longer session.
What if I am having an issue with my therapist?
We always invite you to share feedback with your therapist. It is our belief that the connection you have with your therapist is the most important factor in the success of therapy, so if you are needing something different, please don't hesitate to share your feedback in session or via email.
